CRICKET NEWS - Union Stars Cricket Club has advanced to the final of the Six Gun Grill SWD Premier League final.
This Oudtshoorn-based club, that has won the premier league eight times since 2010, will play in their first final since 2018/19 when they lost in the final against the Nelson Mandela University.
Union Stars was in first place on the log after the pool stages, having played a frustrating closing round of matches.
They received full match points after Knysna Cavaliers forfeited the match between the two clubs that was scheduled for Saturday. The matches between Pacaltsdorp United and George at Pacaltsdorp, and Sussex versus Plett Pioneers at D’Almeida, were both abandoned because of rain.
Union Stars will now meet the winner in the qualifier between the two-time defending champions, Pacaltsdorp, and Sussex who will lock horns at D’Almeida on Saturday. Sussex has been promoted to the premier league this season.
