CRICKET NEWS - A new SWD Cricket Premier League champion will be crowned on Saturday. Sussex CC from D'Almeida in Mossel Bay and Pacaltsdorp United will clash to determine the 2025/26 champions.
The defending champions, Union Stars, missed out on a place in the top three this season.
Sussex finished top of the log after the preliminary round and automatically advanced to the final.
The qualifying match between Pacaltsdorp United and Knysna Cavaliers, scheduled for the past weekend, was abandoned due to a wet pitch after heavy rain in George. The match was moved from Saturday to the reserve day on Sunday.
Pacaltsdorp finished second, ahead of Knysna Cavaliers after the pool stages, and therefore qualified for the final.
Sussex will aim to break a 27-year drought after they last won the title in the 1999/2000 season. Pacaltsdorp United, on the other hand, will be keen to add the Premier League title to the T20 trophy, which they had won earlier this season.
