CRICKET NEWS - The defending champions, Union Stars I, suffered an 80-run defeat in last weekend's SWD Premier League competition against their Oudtshoorn neighbours, the Harlequins Forces.
The Harlequins were bowled out for 131, whereafter Union Stars I were dismissed for only 51 runs, with Theodore Qusheka (4/18) and Pheko Moletsane (4/19) claiming four wickets each.
Union Stars II (97/9), however, achieved a nail-biting one-wicket victory against New Dawn Park (94 all out) thanks to good bowling performances by Banele Cele (4/34) and Zack Momberg (3/34).
The scheduled match in George between Pacaltsdorp United and Sussex was abandoned due to a wet field.
