Eden Orcas crowned national indoor cricket champions

GEORGE NEWS - George successfully hosted the 2026 Indoor Cricket South Africa (ICSA) Overs Tournament, welcoming some of the country's top veteran indoor cricketers for the first national masters indoor cricket event to be staged in the city.

Teams from across South Africa competed in the over 30, over 40, over 50 and over 55 divisions during the week-long tournament, which concluded on Saturday 18 July.

The host region, Eden Indoor Cricket, enjoyed a successful campaign, with its teams securing a national title and a bronze medal.

The Eden Orcas Over 40 team produced the tournament's standout performance, claiming the national championship after finishing ahead of the Border Bears in second place and the Boland Broncos in third.

The Eden Orcas Over 50 side also reached the podium, earning the bronze medal behind champions Gauteng North Barbarians and runners-up EP Warriors.

In the remaining divisions, the Gauteng North Bulldogs won the over 55 title ahead of Free State, while the EP Warriors claimed the over 30 championship, finishing ahead of the Western Province Alphas and Border Bears.

"The tournament showcased the growing strength of masters indoor cricket in South Africa and provided George with another opportunity to demonstrate its ability to host national sporting events," said Jolandie Best, treasurer of Eden Indoor Sport.

The tournament was presented in partnership with George Municipality and George Naturally.
