GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers will face the ACDC Tuskers, whom they've already beaten this season, in the semi-final of the Cricket South Africa Division 2 knockout competition today, Thursday 17 October.
Despite a tough start for the Badgers, losing their first two matches, they managed to bounce back with three consecutive victories to keep their hopes of a place in the finals alive.
The outcomes of the last round of pool matches in the competition were determined last Saturday. At the conclusion of the preliminary round, Eastern Storm lead the table at 20 points followed by the Tuskers at 17 points and the Badgers third at 15 points.
The Northern Cape Heat – after a bonus point victory in Kimberley against the Limpopo Impala on Saturday – have 13 points and finished fourth.
The schedule for the semi-finals is:
Wednesday 16 October: Eastern Storm vs Northern Cape Heat in Benoni
Thursday 17 October: ACDC Tuskers vs Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers in Pietermaritzburg
The venue that will host the final on Sunday 20 October will also be decided this weekend. Should the Northern Cape Heat and the Badgers win, the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn will be the venue, but if Eastern Storm win against Northern Cape Heat, they will host the final.
The Badgers will finalise their starting eleven when assessing the conditions in Pietermaritzburg.
