“For the past two years, the 11 000 entry cut-off has been reached way ahead of the official closing date – which is February 23 – and we expect the same to happen again,” says Carol Vosloo, General Manager of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC.
“Delaying your entry may mean that you don’t get to secure a spot at the start line at all, and we don’t want runners to be disappointed.”
The 47th Ultra Marathon will take place on Easter Saturday, March 26.
To qualify for participation in the Ultra Marathon, runners must complete at least one sub-five hour full marathon (42.2km) between July 1, 2015 and February 22. Runners are required to submit their qualifier details by February 23 or risk forfeiting their entry.
“Runners don’t have to pre-qualify to enter. We therefore urge runners who are only planning to run their qualifying marathon in January or February, to enter now,” adds Ms Vosloo.
South African Ultra Marathon entrants are required to belong to a registered running club and have a valid running license. No temporary licenses will be issued to Ultra Marathon runners.
