GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - If there were such a thing as a serial runner, Lloyd Bosman would be it. And as if winning two 10km running events two weekends ago in George wasn't enough, Bosman made light of the Knysna half-marathon by winning it in classic Bosman style on Saturday 22 June, and taking a second place in the Houtkapper trail run on Sunday.
The Houtkapper trail run offered a 27km run, in which Bosman took part, and a 15km and 9km run in Rheenendal.
Bosman achieved two goals he had set himself for this year's Knysna half-marathon. He retained his 2023 title, and broke the winning time he set last year - by nearly two minutes.
Bosman, who runs for the Nedbank Running Club, said he felt good about winning the 21,1km race again.
"I took the lead after 10 kilometres - and over the last two kilometres, I really started to make a gap."
On breaking his time of 1:06 set last year, he said, "If it wasn't for my opponents I wouldn't have had that time, so thanks to them as well".
His time on Saturday was 1:04:17.9.
He said he and his training partners from the Pacaltsdorp Running Tribe, Francois Maquassa and Selwyn Matthews, also of the Nedbank Running Club, had been running together up to the 10km point of the race.
Maquassa finished third in the half-marathon, in a time of 1:05:01.5, and Matthews fourth in 1:06:03.3.
In second place was Keanu Domingo, of the Potch Track Club, whose time was 1:04:44.1.
After winning the Knysna half-marathon the previous day, Bosman took a second place in the Houtkapper trail on Sunday. Maquassa won the 15km trail and Matthews won the 9km.
