DA to approach IEC about alleged intimidation by ANC members

NATIONAL NEWS - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Western Cape says it will lodge a complaint with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) after a group of its members were allegedly intimidated by the African National Congress (ANC).

The party claims ANC supporters tried to disrupt an event in Khayelitsha yesterday.

DA leaders Mmusi Maimane and provincial leader Patricia de Lille were introducing the party’s candidates for the upcoming elections in Kuyasa.

De Lille has described this as unacceptable.

“While I was speaking they were shouting and going on and then later on they were then removed by other members and the police within the hall.”

But ANC provincial spokesperson Jabu Mfusi has denied the allegations.
