NATIONAL NEWS - The Good Party has congratulated its leader, Patricia de Lille, on her appointment as the vice-chair of the World Tourism Organisation. De Lille is South Africa's national minister of tourism.
A statement issued by Brett Herron, Good secretary general, says the World Tourism Organisation (UN Tourism) is the United Nations agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism.
Her election comes as South Africa assumes the G20 presidency in 2025.
According to the Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni her appointment will strengthen South Africa’s role in ensuring tourism is a catalyst for growing the economy and creating jobs.
He emphasised that South Africa’s Presidency of the G20 must grow tourism on the entire continent.
