Set to make its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show that kicks-off this week, the Decennium takes its name from the Latin word for decade and as indicated, celebrates ten years of the R8 in what is essentially an aesthetic enhancement.
Externally, the Decennium receives milled bronze coloured 20-inch alloy wheels, gloss black front spoiler, sills and diffuser, bronze intake manifold, gloss carbon fibre side blades, a gloss black finish for the Audi four rings, Decennium projecting puddle lamps and a choice of six colours, the bespoke matte Daytona Grey, Floret Silver Metallic, Suzuki Grey Metallic, Mythos Black Metallic, Ascari Blue Metallic and Kemora Grey Metallic.
Featuring a special Decennium badge made out of partial carbon fibre on the centre console, the Decennium’s assortment of unique interior touches consists out of gloss carbon fibre door sills, Decennium badges on the doors, gloss carbon fibre inserts, a gloss black quilted rhombus stitch pattern on the black leather seats with contrasting copper stitching and an Alcantara finished steering wheel with black 12 o’clock marking and copper stitching, the latter carried over to the gear lever, centre armrest and door armrest.
As the Decennium is based on the flagship R8 Performance, the 5.2-litre V10 is tuned to its highest outputs of 456kW/520Nm, channelled to all four wheels via a seven-speed S tronic gearbox. Also unchanged are the claimed performance figures of 0-100km/h in 3.1 seconds and the top speed of 331km/h.
Limited to just 222 units worldwide, the Decennium will go on sale in its home market during the European spring with pricing from €222 000 (R3 571 890).
