Suzuki Baleno
This B-Segement hatchback has been out in overseas markets for quite some time however it will only now reach our shores. Unfortunately we will miss out on the 1.0 litre turbocharged models and the brand's new dual-clutch gearbox. Expect the local range to comprise of mostly 1.4 litre naturally aspirated models however, before you judge the vehicle, take in to consideration that its new platform means its kerb weight is under a tonne. Renault Kwid
The Indian-built Kwid is quite a quirky looking machine, with crossover hatchback styling and a rather small body, this budget car may have the looks to take the budget segment by storm. The underpinnings of the Kwid are the familar CMF-A platform, which is from the Renault-Nissan alliance and is also used on the Datsun Go. Oh dear indeed; judging from crash tests performed on the Indian market versions, this vehicle ranges beween a one and two-star(s)(from a possible five) in terms of crash test results carried out by Global NCAP. In terms of an infotainment system, expect the same sort of system as seen in the Duster models while pricing should be from around the R120-180 000 mark.
