On sale internationally since 2016 having first debuted at that year’s Paris Motor Show as the production version of the Sway concept shown the year before, the K14 Micra rides on the same platform as the current Renault Clio, and will slot in above the repackaged current K13 generation known as the Micra Active.
Heading for South Africa next month, the K14 will get a “modern” infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, and safety tech in the form of ABS, six airbags and EBD.
While Nissan offers the Micra with either a normally aspirated 55 kW 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol, a 66 kW 898 cc turbo triple and a 66 kW 1.5-litre dCi turbodiesel in Europe, local models will, initially, only get the forced induced petrol likely mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Despite remaining mum on any further details, including price, Nissan has stated that a six year / 150 000 km warranty and three year / 90 000 km service plan would be standard across the Micra range.
