Search for missing man continues in Langkloof

GEORGE NEWS - Family and friends of the missing Capetonian Robert Schroder (58) are calling on any able-bodied people who can walk and assist in the search for him today, Monday 26 August, and tomorrow.

"Anybody who can join the search would be greatly appreciated. We are worried that the weather will change on Wednesday," said Schroder's sister Caryn Tamari.

Schroder has been missing for nearly two weeks after he attended the Louvain Burn Music and Arts Festival in the Langkloof near Herold. The three-day festival started on Friday 9 August.

On Monday after the festival, once all the people who attended went home, only his tent was still up.

Tamari flew in from Israel and her brothers, Paul and Selwyn Schroder, came from Australia when they lost touch with their brother over the weekend. They realised something was terribly wrong, especially when his tent and possessions including his old Nokia phone, wallet, medication, and glasses were found at the site.

He was seen at the festival on the morning of Sunday 11 August, but after that, the trail ran cold. An international search and rescue team has since been brought out to assist in the search.

The police have deployed heat-sensing drones, police tracker dogs, divers, and search and rescue teams to locate Schroder. "The police have been unbelievable, as well as the volunteers who have come in to help from all over," said Tamari.
