Update
GEORGE NEWS - Due to the severity of the alleged offence, bail was denied for the 63-year-old man from Pacaltsdorp who is suspected of raping a young girl (8) at her home in Andersonville on Sunday 1 March.
The victim’s family attended court proceedings this morning, Monday 16 March, where the suspect appeared in the George Magistrate’s Court.
According to the victim's father, the suspect was a close family friend and regular visitor.
On the day in question the suspect was enjoying lunch with the family. After lunch a visiting family member allegedly caught the suspect with the victim in the bathroom.
The family phoned the police and the suspect was taken into custody. He remains in custody and will appear in court on 24 April.
