GEORGE NEWS - A man from Postmasburg was stabbed on his hands and back by an unknown attacker on the N9 (the road that leads to the Outeniqua Pass from Heatherlands) on Monday evening, 8 April, at approximately 23:30.
"The victim was hiking to get to his mother's funeral that was taking place in George on Tuesday when he was attacked," said Denver Sauer of Heather Park Neighbourhood Watch (HPNW).
The suspect fled on foot and the victim made his way to the Engen Garage to find help, where he was assisted by members of the public and HPNW until an ambulance arrived and transported him to hospital. The victim is currently in a stable condition.
According to George communications officer, Capt Nolonwabu Tshengu, a case of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm has been opened. "The suspect was described as a bearded black man wearing a dark green top and dark pants," she said. The suspect is unknown to the victim.
