GEORGE NEWS - Barely a week into 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence, a woman from Thembalethu allegedly lost her life at the hands of her husband.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, Thembalethu police are investigating a murder docket following the death of the 27-year old Sinovuyo Ngangalasa from Zone 9.
"Our members were dispatched to the deceased's house in Teyise Street on Monday 30 November at approximately 17:05 after a complaint of assault was received. On arrival the victim's husband (42) was found in the front yard with a firearm which was confiscated as evidence," Pojie said.
"Ngangalasa's lifeless body was found with multiple gunshot wounds on the bathroom floor. The suspect was arrested on the spot and has been charged with murder," said Pojie.
He was expected to make his first court appearance in the George Magistrate's Court on Wednesday morning. By the time of going to print no details about his court appearance were available.
The investigation continues.
