GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - A couple of hundred cheerful Georgians of all ages, and some four-legged friends, participated in this morning's annual Algoa FM Walk for Cancer in perfect weather conditions.
The inspirational event sponsored by Isuzu is simultaneously being held in George, Gqeberha and East London and is a huge success with a total of 15 500 entries received this year.
Through their participation, the walkers and runners celebrate the lives of cancer survivors while also showing solidarity with those still battling the illness and remembering those who succumbed.
Algoa FM created a lively vibe at the start and finish which was in the parking area of the Outeniqua Stadium where a sea of pink gathered to first do a fun warm-up to the beat of the music before setting out on a lovely route down Langenhoven Street and into Heather Park.

Among the walkers were also cancer survivors and their families, giving hope to all those whose lives are affected by the illness.
Grant Jankes with his baby daughter Tahlia in a jogger stroller were first to finish the 5km in a time of 25:40.
In second place were George's blind runner Carl de Campos and his guide Willem Lubbe in second place a minute or two later, with Tia Landsberg and Chantelle de Bruin third in just under 30 minutes.
