GEORGE NEWS - Matrics countrywide will go to school one more time tomorrow, 11 October, on their official last day school before the start of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations - a doorway to the next chapter in their lives.
Building up to this big event, Western Cape Education District Director Jewel Jonkers invited all eight circuit managers to a digital meeting in support of all the Grade 12s in the Eden Central Karoo education district.
Jonkers reminded the Grade 12s of a whole new world of possibilities that lies ahead, and praised his team of dedicated teachers and all role players for their part in the learners' lives over the past 13 years. Some circuit managers were still in class with their learners, who then had the opportunity to tune in for the meeting.
"No child should be left behind," said Jonkers. "I believe they will make us proud." The district's main goal this year is to break through the proverbial glass ceiling and improve on a pass rate of 85%.
District Mayor Andrew Stroebel said his message is one of encouragement, appreciation, and support for the dedicated leaders who stand beside our learners every step of the way.
"Your work as educators is far more than a profession; it is a calling. You are shaping the future of this district, and in many ways, the future of our country," said Stroebel. "Every lesson, every word of guidance, and every moment of care you give to your students is an investment not just in their success, but in the growth of our entire region."
