Update
GEORGE NEWS - The ADT Fidelity Services security guard who faces a murder charge following a shooting in Rosemoor, Lindokihle Fetile (30), appeared in the George Magistrate's Court earlier today, Wednesday 30 October. The case was postponed to 4 December as the court is still waiting for seven statements and the ballistics report.
Fetile is accused of shooting Serano "Boya" Williams (20) on Saturday 24 August.
According to a statement by the investigating officer read into evidence during the bail hearing in August, Fetile was summoned to a shop in O’Connell Street in Rosemoor following a complaint of a group drinking alcohol and causing a disturbance.
When he arrived at the shop, he was confronted by the group. He tried to remove them and they became aggressive and attacked him.
Another police officer's statement that was read out in court and handed in as evidence, said that during the confrontation the guard first fired a warning shot, after which the crowd ran away. Some returned, one of them armed with a firearm.
This person fired a shot at the guard, but missed. The guard fired three shots, two of them hitting Williams in the chest.
After this the angry mob overturned a vehicle owned by the security company and set it ablaze. They then forced their way into the nearby shop and started looting various items.
When the police arrived on the scene, Fetile handed himself over, admitted he had shot the victim and handed over his firearm and ammunition.Serano "Boya" Williams who was shot dead in Rosemoor on Saturday 24 August.
