GEORGE NEWS & VIDEO - ANC Treasurer-General Paul Mashatile, one of the party’s top six leaders, is in George today, Friday 5 April. 

Mashatile met with members of the taxi industry as well as the George Community Forum in Thembalethu.

The meeting finished at 12:30, with no details available yet on the discussions that took place.

According to ANC regional election coordinator, Putco Mapitiza, Mashatile’s visit to George is purely to engage with the party’s voters before the national and provincial elections on 8 May. 

He also met with the ANC top brass in George for a briefing session. His visit comes amidst unexpected protest action in Thembalethu that started last night and continued until midday.

Mashatile will contact the National Minister of Transport,  Blade Nzimande, to get the GO GEORGE public transport back on track. He feels it is wrong to move into the Coloured areas of Parkdene, Conville and Borcherds and not into Thembalethu.
