GEORGE NEWS - Three women. Eleven children. These are the figures behind the Women of Noble Character (Wonc), a social group founded by Allison Yon four years ago to support the children in Rosemoor.
Each year, the group hosts an evening filled with entertainment and fun, and last Saturday, 8 November, was no different.
Their Mish-mash event - so named because it brings together all sorts of entertainment, food, drinks and people - was held at the Rosemoor Community Hall, with Levinia Botha as master of ceremonies and a performance by the Hoërskool Outeniqua Jazz Band, among others.
With the black-and-white dress code, the guests looked stunning in their attire and had the opportunity to have their photos taken at a booth by photographer Jason Cupido.

The funds raised will go towards helping 11 children with schoolclothes and stationery for the next school year. Wonc also provides mentor-ship to teenagers and tweens, helping them navigate the transition to adulthood.

The group takes children on outings - to church, the beach, or playgrounds - where they encourage self-love and build trusting relationships that support their development. Outreaches to old age homes also form part of the programme.
"Our ultimate goal is to empower children and show them there is better, despite the negativity we often see around us," says Yon.
