GEORGE NEWS - The George Hospital's Emergency Centre is currently under severe pressure and patients should expect extended waiting times for non-emergency cases.
"We kindly call on patients to help us to reduce the service pressure on our hospital so that we can treat those who need life-saving interventions," says Nadia Ferreira, Eden district spokesperson for the Western Cape Health and Wellness Department.
She encourages patients who do not need emergency care, to visit their nearest primary healthcare facility (day clinic) to ensure that they receive "the right care, in the right place, and at the right time".
Health teams currently in communities for immunisations
November is a busy month for the health department. Residents must be on the lookout for the health teams who will be out and about in communities as part of the National Immunisation Catch-up Drive to offer free catch-up immunisation services for children who may have missed routine doses.
