GEORGE NEWS - It is not a race, it is a gathering of remembrance and celebration.
Set to take place on 11 October, George will experience the Secret Swim 2025 for the very first time.
Plettenberg Bay is included as a Southern Cape venue, and there are 15 other secret locations across South Africa.
Women from across South Africa will unite for this event. All proceeds will go in support of ILoveBoobies, a non-profit organisation founded in 2016, through which 1 000 life-saving breast cancer screenings are funded every year for women from underserved communities.
Unlike traditional swims, the Secret Swim is not a race. The participants receive their venue pin location at 23:59 on Friday 10 October and gather the next morning for some fun for a cause.
The programme includes registration and pre-swim activities from 07:30, a welcome and safety briefing at 07:45, and an optional group photo (topless from behind) before the swimmers take the plunge at 08:00.
"Whether it's a quick dip, a relaxed float or a full swim, women of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join," says event organiser Isla Maree.
Female lifeguards and bag-watchers will be on duty. Afterward, participants may enjoy a picnic at the venue. Entry is R200, with pre-registration required.
