GEORGE NEWS - April is National Autism Awareness Month and the NPO Binah will be hosting the third annual Big Walk by Binah on Sunday 14 April. It will start at 16:00 at the Garden Route Botanical Garden.
Autism South Africa announced that the theme of Autism Awareness Month 2019 is "Embrace Neurodiversity".
The Big Walk by Binah is popular for its festive atmosphere. With families from all walks of life who face all sorts of challenges socialising and sharing, it sets a good example of communities embracing its diversities.
Neurodiversity entails that people think and process the world differently, because they have different brains. Just as we should embrace diversity of race, religion, class and other human attributes, we should also embrace different ways of thinking. People who are deemed "different" want to be accepted by their community. We can create acceptance by embracing diversity, so adding value to the lives of those living with challenges.
Let's create a country where different ways of thinking, socialising and perspectives are not only accepted but also celebrated.
The Big Walk for Autism Awareness will start at 16:00 on Sunday 14 April at the Garden Route Botanical Garden. Show your understanding and support by participating in this fun walk for a worthy cause.
The entrance fee is R50pp and R20 for children under 12. Everyone who finishes will receive a medal.
Registering for the walk is now even easier. Just click here. Moms, dinner is sorted… Geronimo Spur will be grilling burgers for only R35 each and chips for R25!
