GEORGE NEWS - The contractor will complete the right-hand side sidewalks today and will start the A-E2 asphalt final layer on the road left-hand side tomorrow, 30 May 2019.
Due to the fact that they don’t want any joints on the final layer the whole left-hand side of the road will be closed off as from 08:00 tomorrow morning.
They will start at Davidson Road and work their way up towards the Botanical Gardens.
They will re-open the intersections as soon as the rolling process is completed as they progress up the road.
There will be limited access over the new asphalt until it is rolled to avoid any damage to the layer and vehicles. Owners are requested to proceed with care and use the sidewalk if they need to exit while the material is being poured or rolled.
Please be advised that there will be a height difference of 40mm between the two lane’s until the work is complete (end of next week). There will be delineators on the centerline.
On Friday they plan to start on the left-hand side bellmouths at the intersections.
The plan is to start on the right-hand side of the road next week Tuesday and follow the same process and be complete by the end of next week.
The left-hand side sidewalks will be completed next week.
Please note:
- Caledon Street is still a construction site and as such, the road, manholes and kerb levels will still be different. Please exercise care and caution during this time.
- Please respect the road signs that are put in place for the safety of all road users.
- The contractor has experienced vandalism of his signage in the past. Should you witness vandalism of any kind, please contact us so that we can take the necessary action.
- We urge residents and business owners to please proceed with caution during the roadworks.
