"I am still working on the project and we are waiting for the economic recession to pass and then hope that the money will be found for going ahead with it."
On 11 November 2009, at the time of its launch, Destiny Africa had the backing of Western Cape Premier Helen Zille who unveiled plans for the R28-billion international mega-development. It provided for a massive conference centre, hotels, an upmarket residential estate, which were 'destined' to transform George and the Garden Route into a prime global tourist and business destination.
"The Monteriva directors have asked me to get the land out of liquidation, as there may be an improvement in the property market. There is still a question of getting financial backing for the project. It must be remembered that the plans can be implemented in many phases over 15 to 20 years. With this in mind, an extension has been obtained for the rights for development," said Brown.
