GEORGE NEWS - It is important to remember that many animals have been living in poverty with their owners long before the coronavirus reared its ugly head.
The animal lovers at the York High Animal Club in George know this and recently once again reached out to poverty-stricken people in rural areas.
George Herald accompanied the club's leader, Hayley Kayser, and her team to a house in Driebruggies in Geelhoutboom where Aunty Ellie Lottering shares her home with her family, two dogs, Tessa and Sandy, as well as two cats. Aunty Ellie is blind and daughter Benodene is her right hand woman.
Not only did the York High Animal Club donate a warm house to each of the dogs, the animals were treated against ticks, fleas and worms, and the two bags of food left behind should keep their tummies full for now.
