GEORGE NEWS - The York High Animal Club (YHAC) strives to provide animal owners in rural areas with the necessary education and assistance to take care of their pets.
They do regular outreaches to provide food, deworming and dipping, and assist with sterilisations.
In accordance with their motto, "Those who know better, do better", and under the guidance of teacher Hayley Kayser, this caring group of learners hope to change the world one animal at a time.
One of these lucky animals is Meisiekind from Geelhoutboom, who was shot in her leg in February.
YHAC and the local PDSA assisted her owner with the necessary medical support and last week she returned from her sterilisation at the PDSA. This is just one example of the work these young learners do voluntarily.
However, a car can't run without fuel and the animal club needs your help. They are in desperate need of food to take along on their outreaches to rural areas around George.
Should readers be willing and able to assist, food donations can be dropped in YHAC's container at Pet and Pool Warehouse. Other donations are also welcome.
For more information about the club and the marvellous work they are doing, they can be contacted on 044 874 2333 or send an e-mail to hayleykayser@gmail.com.
