The original owners of DF Scott were Peter Tyropolis and his wife, Voula. Their son, George, took over the responsibility of the business at age 19 after Peter passed away in 1990. George worked tirelessly to grow the business and to carry on the legacy of his father. George increased the store's customer base and ability to reach outlying areas by initiating a delivery service. In July 2009
DF Scott was sold to Masscash, South Africa's leading wholesaler and distributor.
The original store had a floor area of 2 000m² and employed 15 staff members. Today, it is over 4 000m² with ample loading, receiving and packing areas, 87 staff members and eight till points with bar code scanners.
