GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Western Cape Department of Agriculture offers opportunities to 30 unemployed rural matriculants and 15 students requiring work integrated learning (WIL).
Fifteen students from across the Western Cape who require work integrated learning (WIL) to complete their qualification in agriculture will be selected for student internship, and 30 unemployed matriculants will get the opportunity for a matric internship.
The closing date for applications is tomorrow, Friday 10 January.
Preference for the agricultural internship will be given to applicants from Colleges of Agriculture.
The requirements are as follows:
- Applicants must be South African citizens residing in the Western Cape.
- Applicants must have completed grade 12 in the Western Cape.
- Applicants from the areas mentioned will receive preference.
- Females and persons with a disability are encouraged to apply.
- Youth (18 –-24 years) may apply for the matric internships.
- Youth (18 - 35) may apply for the student internships.
- Applicants must be entering an internship/developmental programme in government for the first time.
- Student intern applications must be accompanied by a letter from the institution of higher learning indicating the required WIL period.
Z83 form
To apply, complete a Z83 application form and submit a CV with copies of your ID, academic results and WIL letter for the student internship. The reference number will be the internship (matric or student) and area applied for.
Successful applicants for the matric internships will be appointed on a fixed-term contract for 12 months, in the areas where the positions are based, effective 1 April 2025.

The appointed interns will receive a monthly stipend of between R5 345 - R6 312.
