Ben Burger, Cape Town:
I thank the very friendly and helpful staff at George Airport from the bottom of my heart for assisting me with a wheelchair when I departed from George on flight 4Z638 on Sunday 24 November.
When I booked the ticket more than a month ago and requested wheelchair assistance from the airline's reservations department as per their website, it was denied because according to the airline they cannot provide wheelchair assistance to people who weigh more than 100 kilograms.
I have a physical disability which causes severe pain when I walk long distances, so even though George Airport is not very big, the distance from the terminal to the aircraft is a challenge for me.
Other airlines have never denied wheelchair assistance to me, so thanks again to the staff who assisted me, despite the airline's reservations department not wanting to assist.
I must also commend the flight attendants who gladly assisted me by carrying my hand luggage down the aircraft stairs after we had landed in Cape Town.
