In an all-out rescue in rough seas crew from the NSRi Wilderness and Mossel Bay along with a private vessel owner - went to the aid of a floundering DAFF research vessel – Derek-1 on Monday 13 August off-shore from Herolds Bay. The boat sent a distress signal reporting to have a rope entangled around its boat motor propellers. Derek-1 was dragging anchor in heavy surf and at risk of running aground from half a nautical mile off-shore of Herolds Bay with 7 crew onboard in 3-meter heavy sea swells.
