The Wheelchair Tennis National Camp attracted a record number of participants to the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center where several prospects for upcoming major tournaments in March and April were identified.
Camp Directors Patrick Selepe and Archie Lemeko had created an environment which allowed many young tennis enthusiasts battle it out in Soweto with assistance from WTSA performance coach Khotso Matshego as well as regional tennis coaches.
“We are very excited to hold this wheelchair tennis camp for all those young athletes who want to improve their games,” said Selepe.
“We have seen great performances from most of the players”.
Selepe also thanked game sponsor Airports Company South Africa and all contributors who made the camp the great success.
“The national camp is huge for our grassroots players as they get an opportunity to challenge other players from different provinces. It’s a winning culture, and it’s going to continue,” Wheelchair Tennis South Africa General Manager Karen Losch added.
“This is the platform we use to identify players who are ready to take on the March and April challenge at our major tournaments.
