GEORGE NEWS - Gracehill Preparatory School delighted families with its annual year-end concert on Saturday morning, 1 November.
The entire preschool, from the youngest to the Grade R children, were brought together, and there was an exciting new addition: Gracehill Primary’s learners joined their younger counterparts on stage.
This intergenerational collaboration truly embodied the ‘Gracehill family in action’. The older students played a crucial role, managing the props, narrating the creation story from the Bible, participating in dances and offering calm support to the little ones backstage. This unique dynamic is a hallmark of Gracehill College.
The concert’s diverse musical programme demonstrated the school’s dedication to fostering a love of learning beyond traditional academics, and included contemporary Christian music, Disney theme songs, classical pieces from Edvard Grieg, Tchaikovsky and Camille Saint-Saëns, alongside beloved children’s tunes by Carike Keuzenkamp and Gale Garnett’s 1964 classic, “We’ll Sing in the Sunshine”, as well as Jan de Wet.
The attention to detail included impressive props and costumes, for which the principal, Tanya Nel, extended heartfelt gratitude to all the parents who dedicated countless hours to buying, sewing, gluing and painting.
Special commendation went to Henri von Steen, one of the fathers, for his ingenious engineering of the moving clouds, moon and stars backdrop. Senior Gracehill learners Caleb Christie and Simeon van Rooyen expertly managed the sound and music.
The concert also recognised the unwavering dedication of Gracehill’s teachers, whose hard work, patience and enthusiasm are invaluable. Administrative official Janine Jonker was also thanked for her behind-the-scenes contributions.
The concert culminated in an electric atmosphere as parents joined in for the final song, creating a truly memorable and joyous celebration of the Gracehill community.
The entire preschool was involved in staging the concert.
