- Former members re-applying must:
- Have been appointed as a member of SAPS in terms of the Police Service Act (1995);
- Have successfully completed basic, as well as the relevant functional training;
- Have a good attendance and disciplinary record;
- Possess a Grade 12 of higher education certificate;
- Have a valid light motor vehicle licence (code B);
- Be a South African citizen;
- Be proficient in at least two official lang-uages, of which one must be English;
- Submit to a medical examination;
- Undergo psychological assessment;
- Not have any tattoo marks visible when wearing a uniform;
- Have no previous criminal convictions, and/or pending criminal, disciplinary cases;
- Not been have declared unfit to possess a firearm;
- Be prepared to be deployed based on the needs of the Service, which includes relocation;
- Not be involved in any business or activity that will be in conflict with the integrity of the Service;
- Be willing to undergo a refresher course or any other training as determined.
- have reached retirement age (early or compulsory);
- cannot render 10 years pensionable service before reaching retirement age of 60 years;
- have been dishonourably discharged or dismissed;
- have left the Service pending the completion of a disciplinary and/or criminal procee-dings;
- have left the Service more than 10 years ago.
