Unveiled at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon and limited to just 350 units, the Mark X GRMN, which rides on a version of Toyota’s X platform known as the X130, builds on the flagship 350 RDS model offered in Japan with additions consisting of model specific front and rear bumpers, a gloss black honeycomb lower air intake, 19-inch BBS alloy wheels, quad exhaust outlets, a thin carbon fibre boot spoiler and a carbon fibre reinforced plastic roof that cuts overall weight by a claimed 10kg, and which can be specified as an option for an additional ¥270 000 (R34 717).
Equipped with white GR Sport branded brake calipers taken from the standard Mark X GR Sport and boasting a retuned electric power steering system, stiffer shock absorbers and updated front and rear suspension, the GRMN comes decked out with GR branded sport seats finished in so-called ultra-high-suede, a GR badged leather wrapped steering wheel, alloy pedals and carbon fibre inserts.
No changes have however taken place up front where the GRMN retains the GR Sport’s normally 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine that produces 234kW/380Nm, but forgoes the six-speed automatic gearbox for a six-speed manual with drive being routed to the rear wheels. No performance figures were revealed.
Priced from ¥5.13-million (R659 641), the Mark X GRMM, as previously mentioned, will be reserved for its home market only.
