Captured by motor1.com not far from the Nürburgring, the T will indirectly replace the current 991.2 generation 911 T as the sole model to wear the iconic performance moniker in Porsche’s line-up, with the pictured model sporting a front-end taken from the GTS and rear facia details derived from the more hardcore GT4.
Rolling on what appears to be production ready alloy wheels and fitted with red brake calipers, the T appears otherwise identical to the GTS, though according to the article, it rode significantly closer to the ground and lacked a piece off of the top of the diffuser.
The T will however distinguish itself from the GTS inside, with the removal of the infotainment system and sound deadheading materials, as well as fabric door pulls instead of handles, lightweight glass for the rear window and lighter sport seats to save around 20kg.
Conflicting reports has meanwhile emerged on the T’s choice engines, with reports from Europe alleging it will use a 265kW version of the GTS’s 2.5-litre turbocharged flat-four, while the mentioned article, citing an alleged US VIN number, claims it will instead use the 2.0-litre turbo flat-four from the entry-level Cayman, albeit with more power. Transmissions will likely consist out of the six-speed manual and seven-speed PDK.
An official unveiling is likely to take place early next year.
