Expected to be based on the Volkswagen Group's MLB Evo platform, which currently underpins the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga and the upcoming Volkswagen Touareg, the D5 A8 will feature styling derived from the Prologue Concept series and a plethora of autonomous tech, the most notable, according to autoevolution, being the ability to drive up to 60 km/h in full autonomous mode.
Engines choices are likely to mirror those of the Q7, but could also include the carryover normally aspirated 6.3-litre W12 and a bigger TDI option to slot-in above the D4's 283 kW / 850 Nm 4.2-litre unit.
