Closely following the Huracan Evo Spyder that bowed last month, the Aventador SVJ Roadster, like its hardtop sibling shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance last year, benefits from a new front facia, active flaps and front splitter as part of the Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) setup, while also adding the Jota name to the existing SV or Sport Veloce moniker.
As well incorporating the same slew of aerodynamics and underskin revisions as the hardtop, the Roadster’s biggest difference is of course the roof made from carbon fibre that can be stored underneath the bonnet. Essentially two separate panels weighing six kilograms, this, along with the various structural improvements, has resulted in a 50kg weight gain over the fixed-roof SVJ, meaning that the Roadster ticks the scales at 1 575kg.
Rolling on the same super-light Nireo alloy wheels wrapped in specific Pirelli PZero Corsa rubber as the coupe with road and track legal Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres optional, the Roadster not only carries over the interior with its selection of customisation options as part of the Ad Personam program, but also the standard carbon ceramic brakes, recalibrated Magneto-Rheological suspension an four driving modes; Strada, Sport, Corsa and the custom Ego.
Mounted in the middle, the normally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 from the coupe continues as is with outputs of 566kW/720Nm, allowing to Roadster to complete the 0-100km/h sprint in 2.9 seconds, 0-200km/h in 8.8 seconds and on to a top speed of “more than 350km/h”.
As ever, a seven-speed Independent Shifting Rod (IRS) automatic gearbox sends the amount of twist to all four wheels, with Lamborghini claiming that the Roadster, thanks to the six-piston calipers at the front measuring 400mm and four-pistons at the rear measuring 380mm, will come to a stop from 100km/h in 31 metres.
Sales of the Roadster is set to commence during the European summer with pricing in its home market starting at €387 007 (R9 9710 447).
