One of the biggest motoring showpieces in the Southeast Asian country, here are some highlights from GIIAS 2017.
Mitsubishi Xpander
Leaked towards the end of last month after being previously known as the Expander and then the New Generation MPV, the now officially launched Xpander joins the Pajero Sport and Outlander in receiving Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield styling language, with the show model also boasting a bespoke bodykit and black taillight surrounds.
As previously reported, Indonesian models will consist of five trim levels (GLX, GLS, Exceed, Sport and Ultimate), and make use of a 1.5-litre petrol engine developing 77 kW and 141 Nm of torque. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard with a four-speed automatic optional. Despite boasting a ground clearance of 205 mm, the Xpander will be front wheel driven only.
Depending on the trim level selected, the Xpander will offer items such as LED headlights, a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, keyless start, Hill Start Assist, reverse camera and ABS with EBD.
Production will take place at Mitsubishi's new Bekasi plant in West Java, with prices ranging from 189 050 000 Rupiah (R189 253) for the base GLX manual, to 245 350 000 (R245 614) for the Ultimate automatic.
Toyota Voxy
Previously known as the NAV1 in Indonesia and essentially a rebadged version of the Noah and Esquire sold in Japan, the third generation Voxy boasts a completely redesigned exterior with LED headlights, automatic sliding rear doors, bodykit and vertical LED taillights with blue clusters.
Underneath its stubby bonnet, the Voxy will only be offered with a 2.0-litre petrol engine making 112 kW and 193 Nm of torque, with drive going to the front wheels via a CVT.
Datsun Go Live Concept
Designed "specially for young Indonesians who see customising vehicles as a way of life" according to Datsun, the Go Live Concept features a series of in-house modifications made up of 17-inch alloy wheels, grey camouflage paint finish, revised grille with yellow insert, yellow bumper spoiler, door inserts and rims, flared wheel arches, redesigned rear bumper, smoked taillights and yellow boot spoiler.
No technical details were revealed but expect the Concept to make use of the standard Go's 50 kW 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine.
Daihatsu DN Multisix Concept & DN-F Sedan Concept
Although no longer active in South Africa, Toyota owned Daihatsu continues to maintain a large presence in Asia with the brand unveiling its DN Mutisix MPV and somewhat unfortunately named DN-F Sedan in Jakarta.
Intended as a likely flagship above the Sigra and Xenia MPVs, the latter being a rebadged Toyota Avanza, the DN Multisix, as its name suggest, boasts a six-seat layout and futuristic exterior appearance, with suicide rear doors and a full length glass roof. No technical details were revealed.
With styling cues seemingly derived from the Opel Insignia Grand Sport and Honda Accord, the sharply styled DN-F Sedan features a coupe-like appearance also with suicide rear doors, and extensive use of LEDs especially at the rear.
Measuring 4 200 mm in overall length with a wheelbase of 2 510 mm, height of 1 430 mm and width of 1 695 mm, the DN-F comes powered by a Toyota-sourced 1.2-litre petrol engine making 65 kW and 108 Nm, matched to a CVT.
Honda Brio & Mobilio RS
With the Mobilio RS having already debuted alongside the standard model in Indonesia earlier this year, Honda has now extended its RS styling package to include the Brio, with additions consisting of a black grille with RS lettering, dual-tone alloy wheels, projector type headlights and daytime running LEDs.
Motive power remains unchanged from the standard Brio with the 1.2-litre petrol engine still producing 65 kW and 109 Nm of torque, hooked to a CVT.
