Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last month, the Urban EV comes powered by an all-electric powertrain dubbed Power Manager, which Honda claims can not only store energy through braking, but also release it back into the home or grid.
As well suicide doors, illuminated Honda logos front and rear and an interactive grille that can display messages, the interior is a further nod to the original Civic, but with a modern twist. This includes an expansive screen serving as instrument cluster and infotainment display, wood trim, a bench seats finished in nautical grey fabrics and dual screens mounted into the doors serving as mirrors.
Expected to go on sale in Europe first followed by Japan in 2020, Honda has also stated that the production Urban EV will mostly remain true to the concept, although due to safety requirements, conventional doors will most probably replace the suicide openers. No word has however been made on which aspects of the concept's interior will make it into production.
