The powertain
We don’t like to mess around, so here’s what you can expect to find powering Honda’s supercar. There is a mid-mounted twin-turbo DOHC V6 engine with a nine-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) and a three-electric motor Sport Hybrid system. There are also dynamic torque-vectoring technologies such as Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive (SH-AWD).
That design
The NSX body features low and wide proportions with throughly modern surfacing on its all-aluminium body. The front-end and taillight design are both intended to pay hommage to the original NSX. The side intake and floating C-pillar collects air to feed the mid-mounted engine and directs airflow over the rear deck to increase downforce.
The cockpit
Honda has produced what it calls, the ‘Human-centered Supercar,’ which it claims is particularly evident in the interior. “Like the original NSX, we created a ‘Human Support Cockpit’ that provides exceptional driver control, visibility and packaging, but further advanced to meet the extreme performance expectations of a modern supercar,” said Johnathan Norman, NSX interior design project leader.
Dynamic promise
The NSX has the right ingredients, a mid-mounted engine, twin front motors and Sport Hybrid battery pack, all-aluminum front and rear suspension and six-piston front and four-piston rear monoblock caliper carbon-ceramic brakes.
There are also drive setting modes such as Quiet, Sport, Sport+ and Track. The system adjusts engine, motor, transmission and chassis response, as well as the engine sound level, based on the needs of the driver and driving environment.
