The Fiat 500c is no different and while it’s already been on our shores for quite some time, the car isn’t showing signs of aging.

Built around the classic design of the original 500 from the 1950s, the Italian carmaker gave the new generation a modern twist, while the 500c also lost its top. I’ve always been a fan of the littlest Fiat’s styling. Add a soft top into the mix and the car becomes a real winner, as it revives a classic bygone era of cruising through small towns with the roof down and a scarf flowing in the wind.

This Italian mini oozes spunkiness and is entertaining to drive. The interior, however, can be rather cramped, depending on your physique, of course.

In the powertrain department, our test mule was fitted with the small 1.2-litre motor, developing 51kW and 102Nm. It might not sound like much, but given the vehicle’s lightweight personality, it does offer some gusto. But you will have to work the car hard to really get moving.

It’s a fun city slicker that offers excellent returns on fuel consumption, with a claimed figure of 4.3 litres/100km.

The Fiat 500c is an aggressively priced ragtop and at R189 490, it’s worth considering if going topless is your thing.
