Slotting in above the M4 Competition Pack as the most powerful M4 ever made, until the arrival of full-bore CSL that is, the CS makes extensive use of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic to cut weight by some 32 kg, with exterior differences consisting of a model specific carbon fibre front splitter, carbon-fibre Gurney boot spoiler and diffuser, redesigned front apron OLED taillights and even more flared wheel arches.
Riding on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, regular Michelin Sport tyres are a no cost option, with wheel sizes measuring 19-inch at the front and 20-inches at the rear, the CS also features M fade-resistant compound brakes with four piston calipers at the front and two-pistons at the rear, Active M Differential, Adaptive M Suspension, recalibrated electromechanical power steering and three driving modes; Comfort, Sport and Sport+.
Inside, the interior builds upon that if the Competition Pack and features lightweight M sport seats finished in leather and Alcantra, Alcantara trimmed M Sport steering wheel, carbon inserts, CS badging and illuminated M4 lettering on the headrests.
The biggest change comes underneath the bonnet where the standard issue 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six has been tweaked from the Competition Pack to produce 338 kW and 600 Nm of torque as opposed to 331 kW / 550 Nm, which means an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h or 280 km/h with the optional M Driver's Package, and 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. As per BMW's culling of manual transmissions due to poor sales, the M4 CS is offered solely with a seven-speed M DCT.
Limited to just 60 units, the M4 CS commands a sticker price of R1 838 500, which includes a five year / 100 000 km maintenance plan as standard.
