According to an alleged internal document obtained by indianautosblog.com, Nissan's rival to the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Isuzu MU-X and Chevrolet / Holden TrailBlazer will first go on sale in China as the second generation Paladin, and have dimensions of 4 885 mm in overall length, a wheelbase of 2 850 mm, height of 1 835 mm and width of 1 865 mm.
As with the previous Paladin that rode on the same platform as the D23 Navara / Hardbody / NP300, the newcomer, in China, will only be available with a petrol engine, in this case, the same 2.5-litre QR25DE powering the Navara that produces 135 kW and 236 Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox will be standard with a seven-speed automatic standard fare on higher spec models equipped with four-wheel drive.
Export markets are however likely to feature the Navara's 2.3-litre diesel mill in single and twin-turbocharged configuration, with transmissions mirroring those of the petrol. What continues to remain unknown is whether Nissan will use the Xterra name or indeed Terrano, the latter though having recently been revived in India as a badge engineering version of the Renault Duster.
