Scholars and students designed and manufactured stunning handmade products from waste material which were showcased during the 2012 Libere Wear Art fashion show.
Libere signs a royalty agreement with the designers and they receive a commission of 5% on the wholesale price of every product sold by Libere. Over the last three years Libere has trained and facilitated 70 youth and 90 unemployed adults and 30 individuals are currently generating money from the products.

Libere co-founder and design teacher Elna Pretorius thanked participants: "Libere is very grateful for the support and participation of the following schools - Outeniqua Primary, Blanco Primary, Outeniqua High School, Tembalethu High School, Hoekwil Primary, D.F. Malan High School, Parklands College, Stellenberg High School and Bellville High School."
She added, "A special thank you to teachers Leoni Selzer, Clarise Hattingh, Alida Lubbe, Lara Kruger, Carike Cass, Wilna Coetzer and Vanessa Jooste for the facilitation of the young designers and their commitment towards the competition and project."
Judges for the 2012 Design for work competition were Trevyn McGowan: Source-SA, Leon Büchner: WCED and Craig Carbutt: CCDI.
