Instead of having the usual ‘teen party’ to celebrate this big occasion, she rather wanted to bring joy and happiness to others.
After seeing the recent articles about Bethesda Hospice in the George Herald, she visited Bethesda and decided to cele-brate her birthday with them.
Three of Megan’s friends joined her on her birthday and party goodie-bags, cup cakes, balloons and soft toys were handed to each of the patients in the children’s ward. All the other patients each received a cup cake and a bag of fresh fruit. Each of the staff members was also treated to cupcakes, milk tart and a bag of fresh fruit.
"It was so good to see the joy and appreciation on the patients’ faces. Just the few minutes spent with each of them brought sunshine to their day," says Megan.
She hopes that other teenagers will read this article and follow her example, since she believes that they have so much to be thankful for. She undertakes to visit Bethesda in the future again, taking along a small something for all to enjoy.
