The South Cape Chapter of the South African Koi Keepers Society will once again host the annual Assupol Koi Show at the Garden Route Mall on 22 and 23 March.
Koi fish are said to have emerged from relative obscurity to become one of the most highly prized fish to keep, being aesthetically pleasing and described by some as 'living jewels'.
The search for that unique 'one-off' koi and the challenge of creating an ideal environment make koi keeping one of the most fascinating hobbies with a worldwide following. A large variety of koi fish and other koi-related products will be on sale at the show.
New to this year's show will be a goldfish exhibition as well as a showing of intriguing and unique bonsai trees. Aiming to connect hobbyists and enthusiasts, the South African Fancy Goldfish Organisation (Safga) will be represented at the goldfish exhibition.
The public can appreciate the many unusual varieties of goldfish on display and ask experts to share information and answer questions.
Members of the Kat Rivier Kai Bonsai Club will also be available to share information about the exotic hobby and pastime of cultivating bonsai trees.
The koi show will be open on Saturday 22 March from 09:00 to 16:00 and on Sunday 23 March from 09:00 to 13:00.
Entrance fees are R10 for adults and R5 for children under the age of 12.
