GEORGE NEWS - As the festive season draws near, Life Community Services (LCS) is once again inviting the community to help share the magic of Christmas with vulnerable children.
Through its Bless-a-Child project, LCS offers residents a meaningful way to make a difference by donating towards gifts for the children. The public can either donate R200, which will allow Life to fill a gift bag on their behalf, or by personally filling a bag with gifts to the value of R200.
"Every contribution brings hope, joy, and a sense of belonging to children who need it most," says the CEO, Maryna de Vries.
Gift bags can be collected from the LCS premises at 1 Fiskaal Street, Conville. Filled bags must be returned by Wednesday 4 December.
Donors are kindly requested to choose age-appropriate gifts for children aged 3 to 18.
Suggested items for boys include toy cars, trains, planes, spin tops, figurines, and farm or wild animals.
For girls, suggested gifts include dolls with a change of clothing, tea sets, pots and pans, and toy kitchen tools.
General items suitable for all ages include educational toys, balls and other sports equipment, board games for older children, books, and colouring materials.
Toiletries such as deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, washcloths, and even hair straighteners for young ladies are also welcome.
Contributors may also include sweets and chips, provided they contain no MSG and chocolates are sealed inside a Ziploc bag. New clothing is also always appreciated.
What to rather avoid: DVDs, toys with small parts such as Lego, any type of toy gun, inappropriate items, puzzles with small pieces, whistles, or anything made of glass or ceramic.
"Life Community Services extends heartfelt thanks to all who continue to make Christmas special for children in need," says De Vries.
For more information, community members can contact Life directly on 044 873 6601 or reception@lifecommunity.co.za.
The gifts are handed over to the children during a Christmas party every year.
