Last Wednesday nearly 60 people bought tickets to attend a wine tasting and silent art auction at Sea Paradise Guest House in Wilderness.
De Krans hosted the wine tasting with their wine maker, Louis van der Riet taking the guests through the elegance of the fruity, dry or sweet De Krans wines. While sipping, tasting and smelling the fruit in six cultivars, the guests enjoyed snacks provided by Sea Paradise.
The guest had no need to reveal their own valuation of the art works as all paintings were sold by silent auction where bidders had to write down their valuation and the highest bidder were informed afterwards that his or her taste in art was most highly prized - sometimes leading to quite a pricey little night out!
All the income generated from the function will now pay for 1 000kg apricots from De Krans Wine Estate, which in turn will be used to make and bottle some 3 000 jars of jam at the SPCA's ambitious Jam-Boree to be held on the Wilderness Village Green on Saterday 23 November.
One of the organisers of the Sea Front function, Trevor White said it's not yet known how much money was made, because they have to wait for the final bids on the paintings.

About 60 guests attended the wine tasting at Sea Front Guesthouse in aid of SPCA, Garden Route.
